Hit their Stride! (7/8/2006) by
Nelson Rivera |
| The Bulldogs appear to be
hitting their stride, as they take over 2nd place in
the Friday B League in Bolingbrook. The Dogs knew
how important this game was, as the only team between
them and 2nd place was Players Inc.
Just three weeks
earlier the Dogs were able to 10-run rule Players Inc.,
even though they had only 9-players on the field that
day. The Bulldogs were very well aware that they
had just squeaked out a victory against one of the
leagues better teams, while being short handed.
So coming into tonight,
the Dogs knew that Players Inc. were going to be
looking for revenge from their first match up.
But the Dogs were ready for the showdown themselves, as
they knew that a victory over Players Inc was the only
thing standing between them and 2nd place.
However, as fate would have it, Players Inc. had
dropped their first game of a double-header, to Last
Call, putting the Dogs in sole possession of 2nd place,
even before the first pitch.
Taking advantage of the
opportunity to further distance themselves from Players
Inc., the Dogs put up 9-runs in the first inning, led
by the big sticks of DH Kenny Benson and first baseman
Tom Purl. The Dogs finished the game in the 5th
inning with 17-runs, while holding Players Inc. to only
5-runs.
With only one loss
under their belt, the Bulldogs will be looking to keep
the pressure on PB & J, who have yet to lose a game
this year. Next week the Dogs will be looking to
further distancing themselves from the pack, as they
take on Heavy Hitters (5-3) and Last Call (3-4).
The last time the Bulldogs and Heavy Hitters met, it
was a high scoring affair with the Dogs winning
20-5. This will be the Bulldogs first and only
match up with Last Call. |

Notes
from the Webmaster (6/29/2006)
|
Ok, here's what I have
been working on:
- Forums, Blogs
& Picture Gallery
- Compiling
Statistics
- Forms
The 2006 Summer Stats
are updated along with our current results for the
season.
In addition, I have
compiled and uploaded the stats from Summer
1995-1999. I will be posting the stats for Fall
1995-1998 soon. I am working with Jesus Cortes
(original HC) to compile the remaining stats and the
career stats.
Enjoy the updates and
make sure to stop back often.
P.S. If anyone
has any suggestions for the Web site, be sure to drop me
a line at nellie@bulldogsoftball.net.

Letter
from the Editor
|
| Ok, ok. Point has
been taken. Why even have a Web site! The
messages came through loud and clear. So I upped
the ante and decided that if we are going to do this,
then let's do this right. So I secured us BulldogSoftball.net,
as you may have already figured out, since you are
reading this.
Seriously, I have been
very busy over the last month-and-a-half and have not
been able to keep up with this Web site. Part of
the problem is that I suffer from
"analysis-paralysis". I mull things
over to the nth degree and then mull it over some
more. I'm working on that...
Well here's the first
"update" to the Web site and the launch of BulldogSoftball.net.
I will try to keep up with the stats, which have been
provided by Tom Purl. As you can tell, there are
some future plans for a Forums section (dubbed
"The Dog Pound") and our very own Blog
(dubbed "Canine Speak").
In addition, I have a
former player of The Bulldogs (original member I might
add) who is working on our "history"
page. Though many of the faces are new to the
team and we've seen many hang up the cleats or move away, this team wouldn't be where it is today
without the journey that we took to get here. I
intend to keep the history in tact and pay homage to
all Bulldogs, past and present!
With that said, I thank
you for your patience and will work to update the site
soon. I will be inviting many of the original
Bulldogs to join us on this Web site and partake in the
Forums and to keep up with what's going on.
I didn't have enough
time to write a story, so here's the down-low. We
are 6-1 so far this season. We've been bit by
the injury bug the last couple of weeks, and
with that time of the year for vacations, you find
yourself looking out toward the parking lot
wondering. But we've suffered it well the past
few weeks and look like we are beginning to hit our
stride. The stats are updated as of game 4.
I'm waiting for stats from Game 5 & 6 from
Tom. Then I'll post them here.
Go Bulldogs!
Nellie
